A while back, Bill was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia,
and on July 18th a memory care room came available from the waiting list for the Southern Utah
Veterans Home. He is now cared for at
SUVH in Room 401. His cell phone, which
might not always be on, is 925-216-8964.
My cell phone is 925-216-8741. Just be aware that the cell phone coverage is
spotty out there near the SUVH. Bill has
a southern exposure room, so our coverage is a little better. He looks out over the construction site for
the new medical center that is being built next to SUVH.
This was an extremely emotional and difficult transition for me, but once again my Marine is protecting me, helping to make the decision to enter the nursing home when he realized I was struggling with his round-the-clock care. I hate the separations in the evenings, but we're adjusting. Other than a couple of really bad days after the prescription of a medication that didn't agree with him, it has been a transition that we both knew was necessary. Our children are so supportive, flying out to visit and assist, plus purchasing a new HP ProBook for me to use while at SUVH to keep up with our blogs and release some tension with genealogy when I can.
Bill is treated so well there. They know his part in the formation of the SUVH in Ivins and have bent over backwards to assist. I believe they do so for everyone, but we are blessed by their kind care.
And here is the staff welcoming him to SUVH on July 18th.
Late morning, mid-afternoon visitors welcome. Thank you for your interest - and prayers for
both of us during our transition.

Hi Donna,
I am so sorry you had to make this transition but what a blessing that Bill was able to participate and knew it was for the best. I do Pet Therapy at the VA every other Friday morning but I will be there every Friday in August until the other gal returns. I look forward to visiting Bill and you too. Best of luck with this big change. As you know, the VA facility is absolutely beautiful and the care is extraordinary. Don't forget to take care of yourself. Michelle Gregory
