St. George VA Outpatient Clinic is moving

Dear Veteran:

The St. George VA Outpatient Clinic is excited to announce that our Clinic is moving to a new facility. The clinic will close from January 5-8,  2024, to allow time to move to the new location. The clinic will reopen at our new facility on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

Current Location:

230 North 1680 East

St. George, Utah 84790

New Location:

Riverfront Medical Center

585 East Riverside Drive

St. George, Utah 84790

On Friday, January 5 and Monday, January 8, the clinic will see walk-in patients only at our current location. On Tuesday, January 9, we will open the clinic doors at the new location. All future appointments will take place at the new clinic.

The move allows the clinic to greatly enhance our existing services, while offering several new services, including an Optometry Clinic, a Sleep Clinic, Walk-in Lab services, expanded Physical Therapy services, Nutritional programs, Walk with Ease and Move Programs.

Importantly, our phone numbers and email addresses will not change. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. You can reach the clinic at 435-634-7608, or simply stop for a visit.

We are honored to serve Southern Utah’s Veteran community and look forward to providing you with the world-class healthcare you deserve.

Respectfully,

The St. George Community Clinic Team

October Meeting

Remember the Commandant's shoe drive - bring shoes you no longer need or want, to donate.  They will end up in Africa on villagers' feet.

We need some nice prizes for the birthday ball raffle table.  Right now there are but a few, so we need more to make it worthwhile setting up the table, and this is the last chance to increase the stash.  New or slightly used items, not necessarily Marine Corps related, are welcome.  Bring your stuff to the meeting this Saturday for Pat Lisi to collect.

The guest speaker this month (Oct 14) is Chuck Waddel of Southern Utah Veterans Association.  He will talk about the Cedar City Veterans Park and Museum project.  Here is their website if you want to get a jump on the program:  Southern Utah Veterans Association.

2023 Devil Pups Brought Home Honors

Our 2023 Devil Pups performed so well at Camp Pendleton this year.  It was the first year there was only one increment.  Graduation was July 22, and out of the 350 kids in the increment, our St. George gang came home with 3 of the 7 special name awards, one of them with the Bill Toole Award for Persistence, the first time a Southern Utah pup has won that Award.  We also had a pup participate in the guidon retirement ceremony.  Also, nine pups from last year chose to return to camp as eagles.  Another new record for Southern Utah.  Another great bunch of pups – we’ve now graduated 149 kids from Southern Utah – a perfect graduation record.

Both Billion Johnston and Donna Toole will be retiring this fall.  Bryan Butas will be working with future pups and perhaps a young Marine who has expressed an interest.  Vie Van Noy, a 2022 Devil Pup mother, former event coordinator at Ivins Veterans Nursing Home, will be the Coordinator for 2024 and beyond.  It's been a rewarding experience working with Southern Utah Devil Pups.

Wait Until August!

The June Detachment meeting was part of this past weekend's Department of Utah Conference at the Holiday Inn, so there is no meeting Saturday 6/10.  And, at the request of our newly- installed Commandant, Tony Damiano, there will be no Detachment meeting in July.  August 12 is the date for the next one. Please make note in your calendars.

May 13 MCL Monthly Meeting

Saturday May 13 is our next Detachment meeting and you won't want to miss it.  We have 2 very special guests coming to talk about veterans benefits for you and a surviving spouse.  BRING YOUR SPOUSE TO THIS MEETING!  It will be a lot easier for 2 of you to keep things straight rather than trying to remember these things by yourself.

Our presenters represent the American Patriot Services Corporation.  Here is a link to their website:

Some of us have heard information about things like DCI, which is a program that allows your surviving spouse to collect a percentage of your VA comp, if qualified, after the veteran dies.  I think I've got a good handle on DCI and other benefits but I want to hear it again, and Marjorie will be there to hear it again as well.

Doors open at 0815 and the meeting starts at 9.  We meet at the American Legion building located behind the St. George Senior Center.

We'll also be electing our officers plus we have a college scholarship to present to Marine Matthew Lemmon.

BRING YOUR REGISTRATION FORM AND FEES FOR THE DIVISION CONVENTION JUNE 2&3rd.

See you next Saturday the 13th.
