Get your Birthday Ball Tickets

Marines and Corpsmen:  It’s time to get your order in for tickets to the Marine Corps Birthday Ball as we are just about halfway through the batch of available tickets.  Tell your friends about the ball, too, and encourage them to get tickets soon.  The Ball is on November 10 at the Sun River Community Center.  The evening begins at 5:30 with a Social Hour and will end just before 10 following dancing and music by the group “Soul What.”  You have the opportunity this year to choose between surf or turf for dinner, and you won’t want to miss our guest speaker who is one our Detachment’s own.  Call Jon Hinz for tickets.  Tickets are also available at every Detachment meeting.  They are $35 per person.  Don’t wait until the last minute because we will sell out this year.  Supplies are limited. Thanks!

10 New Devil Pups

We graduated another 10 Devil Pups this past weekend.  Attached is a video clip of the Pups marching onto parade ground. There is a little wind noise - very windy day at Camp Pendleton.

Not only did we have 10 Pups graduate, one of our females, Alena Lorentzen, captured one of the few PFT awards.  They must score a perfect 400 to earn this award.
Alena is second from left in the front row.  I asked them to remove their caps so we could see their buzz cuts, but some of the guys must have felt chilly!!!

A new Individual Award was added to the Devil Pup Graduation Ceremony this year.  It's called "The Colonel Bill Toole Award" and is presented for demonstration of extraordinary persistence and includes a $200 cash gift.

New theater and film to debut at Marine Corps museum

CLICK HERE FOR THE LINK with information about the new theater and film to debut at the Marine Corps Museum.
‘We, The Marines’ is intended to be the capstone experience for the visitor,” said Retired Marine Lt. Gen. Robert R. Blackman, president and CEO of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. “(The film) focuses on the modern-day Marine, and it takes Marines from the boot camp experience, through training, through deployment and finally, the homecoming.”
