September Commandant's Message

The passing of our beloved friend and fellow Marine William “Bill” Feeney brought sorrow to us all.  He will be remembered for his constant dedication and inspiration to do whatever may be requested.  In his last assignment as the Chairman of the GIVE BACK Program he was instrumental in spearheading available donations to the many needy organizations throughout the local area.  While these programs helped many, Bill always reminded us it is better to give then to receive.  As I write these words the Detachment is preparing to attend Bill's memorial service in Dammeron Valley on the 24th of August. May we make him Proud.

Bill Feeney Memorial Service

A memorial service for Utah Dixie Detachment #1270 member Bill Feeney will be held as follows:

When:        Saturday, 24 August 2013, at 4:00 PM.

Location:    Main Station, Dammeron Valley Fire Department.

Directions:   

1. Starting point is intersection of Red Hills Parkway & Bluff St. (Rte 18).

2. Proceed on Rte 18 for 23.0 miles. Right turn (note Red Dog Cafe on right).

3. Proceed .2 miles(2/10ths mile); Main building is on the left.

Uniform:  Marine Corps League Members who have dress blues, they should be worn.  Other members, black trousers, red polo shirt, black shoes, MCL cover.

2013 Steve Lewis Funeral Detail

Here's your funeral detail for the Steve Lewis graveside service.  Vietnam Vets also provided honors for this service.  Steve's son is Bryce Lewis, a 2007 Devil Pup, and Marine wounded in Afghanistan.

At the August MCL Detachment breakfast meeting, five of eight Devil Pup graduates from the summer camp program at Camp Pendleton turned out to thank the Detachment for its support of their camp experience this year.  Here are these fine kids - a bright future is ahead of them!

Saturday 27 Jul 2013 at Washington City Cemetery

Services for Corpsman Harris.

We need to be at the cemetery at 2:30 P.M. to practice and get ready for graveside services at the cemetery approximately 3:15 P.M.

We will need 12 people if we can so we can cover the rifles, flag folding, bugle and reading at the service. Need about 4 more bodies.
